100 Days of Ties: The Momentum of Failure project

I love what my man Will over at Momentum of Failure is doing. 100 work days, sporting a tie each of those days, in an establishment where casual clothing is largely the norm. Bringing classy back to the workplace, with a younger, more modern vibe. I dig it.

I sent in my own reader submission, and I encourage you to do the same! Join in, especially if you work in a more laid-back environment like the both of us.

Learn more about the project here, and tomorrow morning, throw on a tie, snap a quick photo and send it over to Momentum of Failure!

I’m pretty sure I have that tie…cotton J. Crew narrow tie?

Good question, I’m actually not sure? That’s Will over at http://themomentumoffailure.com/. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was the J.Crew tie; he’s a big J.Crew fan.

Yes that is a J.Crew tie and a J.Crew light weight secret washed shirt! I can name the seasons for you as well! But it was really well played I like the cut up of the patterns! I need to get on the bike and send in some pictures!!!

Mr. Mayorga is our resident J.Crew expert. haha.

Still waiting to see a tie submission picture, man!

  • Doug Mayorga

Whoa! I sent in two yesterday! I can resend them if you’d like! But yes… I can be your point person for J.Crew haha! I just love seeing people wearing the brand (and bonus points for the partnership pieces as well!).

Ah, just saw them. I haven’t been keeping up with the new posts the past two days. Good look my man!

Great idea, I love it, but…
in another post you said that wearing a shirt and tie with no jacket is a bad move. What do you think of your man Will then?

Although I wish I could take credit for the article to which you’re referring, that was actually my buddy Joe over at dappered.com guest posting here. BUT, to address your point, I’m pretty sure Joe was referring to the man who NEVER wears a jacket with his tie… the man who thinks a shirt and tie is simply “good enough” and leaves it at that.

Will switches it up. He wears blazers, and also sweaters, and even regular jackets with his shirt / tie combo. He’s got the modern-day twist going on. Maybe in this picture, he was warm. Perhaps his jacket was taking the photo? Who knows.

Good observation, though. I’m glad you’re paying attention.

Yeah it was quite a project, which actually just ended a week or two ago. Will over at Momentum of Failure started a new project which he’s inviting all to participate. You can check it out here: http://www.themomentumoffailure.com/2011/01/always-be-building-present-yourself/
