EGQA Episode 1: What to wear with a blue and white striped sport coat

July 17, 2013

As you may know, I receive a lot of style-related questions via comments and emails. I always do my best to answer them individually, but sometimes I get several of the same questions, and it makes me think that more than a handful of you are wondering the same thing.

Every now and then, I’d like to answer these questions on EffortlessGentTV. This will give me a chance to step away from the keyboard and actually explain things in a more fluid way. And hopefully with visuals (and my occasional long-windedness) it will make more sense.

Contrast this with most tie pocket square combinations you see, where the tie material exactly matches the pocket square material. Stay away from those.

You don’t have to buy these sets from Mr. Hilfiger to achieve the same effect. Simply keep this principle in mind.

I don’t think about this too often in my everyday life, but I realize it may not come so easily to everyone, so I did this little exercise. Feel free to try it out if you’re so inclined.
